When people think of franchises, most imagine food and retail. But in the United States there are thousands of brands, across dozens of sectors and investment ranges — including segments you might not imagine operate as franchises.
We gathered four less obvious examples to illustrate how broad the American market is, and how there's room to find the brand that matches your profile and goals. These aren't specific recommendations — they're examples of segments.
1. Trauma-scene cleanup and decontamination
A segment that has grown considerably in the US. These franchises make sure families who suffered a loss don't have to deal with decontaminating the premises. Margins tend to be much higher than in other cleaning services, and much of the payment comes from home insurance companies — which speeds up collection and avoids billing a grieving family directly.
2. Home staging
When someone puts a house up for sale and removes their furniture, the empty space becomes less attractive. Home staging solves that: it prepares the property to look more inviting — like visiting a furnished model apartment instead of an empty one — increasing the chances of a sale. The service includes small repairs and furniture updates. In high-end homes, there's even a model where a manager lives in the property caring for the décor and maintenance.
3. Tree care
Removal of large trees, pruning, planting, and more — all with heavy equipment. It's a market moving around US$ 17 billion in the US, occupied mostly by small family businesses. That opens space for a well-structured franchise to offer a real differential and capture opportunities.
4. House buying
In this model, each franchisee advertises and buys properties in their city, focusing on sellers who need to sell fast — then resells, renovates and resells, or rents. The franchisor may even finance a good part of the purchase and supports the franchisee with lead generation, pricing, and return strategy.
The point isn't these specific segments, but the market's variety. For every investment range and profile there are options — which is why a consultant helps map what matches you. Reminder: not every model fits the E2; more passive formats, or those with little hiring, deserve extra attention with the attorney.
